St Johns, September 2014. Secretary General and Delegate HE Mr Anthony Bailey OBE on behalf of the Grand Master and Cardinal Grand Prior of the Constantinian Order paid a visit to Antigua & Barbuda between 26-30 September 2014 and visited a number of the charitable activities supported by the Constantinian Order in the Caribbean nation.
His Excellency Dr Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua & Barbuda and official representative of Antigua and Barbuda’s Head of State, HM Queen Elizabeth II, received in Audience Anthony Bailey at Government House, St John’s.
Mr Anthony Bailey also held comprehensive discussions with The Hon Gaston Browne, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance & Corporate Governance of Antigua & Barbuda and The Hon Charles Fernandez, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Antigua & Barbuda at the Office of the Prime Minister in St John’s. HE Ambassador Colin Murdoch, Permanent Secretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, HE Mr David Shoul, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the Holy See and The Most Rev Kenneth Richards, Bishop of St John’s-Basseterre also attended.
Mr Bailey accompanied by Bishop Kenneth Richards of St John’s-Basseterre and senior figures of the parish council including the Antiguan Ambassador to the Holy See visited several charitable projects supported by the Constantinian Order. These included the Hatton Multipurpose Facility – a new project being built in the most challenging part of the city to assist those in need such as drug addicts, prostitutes, homeless and the hungry.
The Secretary General also visited several schools being supported as part of the redevelopment of the Catholic School’s facilities including St Jospeh’s Academy, Christ the King High School and the St John’s Catholic Primary School in the country’s capital. Discussions were also held with Bishop Richards concerning the Constantinian Order’s sponsorship to the Diocese to fund the Fifth Antilles Episcopal Conference Youth Assembly in Antigua in a few months time.
Anthony Bailey also spoke at the Mass held at the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral about the role of the Constantinian Order before touring St Joseph’s Church and former Catholic Cathedral in St John’s which has been closed for some years for safely reasons and which will now receive support from the Constantinian Order.
At the conclusion of his visit Secretary General Anthony Bailey attended a Mass and dinner to celebration the 29th anniversary of the ordination of Bishop Kenneth Richards at his residence in St John’s.
