London, 15 November 2016. Longstanding Delegation member Kevin Grant, was presented with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland by the Polish Ambassador HE Mr Arkady Rzegocki at the Polish Embassy in London. The award was bestowed by the President of the Republic of Poland, HE Mr Andrzej Duda “for outstanding services in supporting democratic changes in Poland and for activities for the benefit of the Polish community in Great Britain.”
In the 1980s, Mr Grant used his professional position and contacts to publicise the events of the Polish struggle for full independence and citizens’ freedom during the communist regime.
In presenting him with the award the Polish Ambassador said that Kevin ‘was a hero of the Polish people’.
The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland is awarded for service in improving relations between nations by the President of Poland.
The presentation ceremony and reception was attended by representatives from the Polish community, church leaders, colleagues, friends and family.
British and Irish Delegate Anthony Bailey said ‘I warmly welcome this long over recognition to Kevin Grant who over so many years has devoted so much time and effort to the cause of furthering British-Polish relations.
‘The Constantinian Order enjoys and is proud of its centuries old relationship with Poland and the Polish people’.
