Damascus – May 2005. As part of the ongoing inter-church and inter-faith activities of the Constantinian Order aimed at fostering deeper inter-religious ties and understanding between Christian leaders in the Middle East with their counterparts in Europe, the British and Irish Delegate, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, was received by His Beatitude Patriarch Gregorios III, Patriarch of Antioch & all of the East, of Alexandria, and of Jerusalem – Head of the Melkite-Greek Catholic Patriarchate.
During the one hour meeting held at the Patriarchate in Damascus, detailed discussions were held concerning the launch of a programme of events and activities aimed at highlighting the plight of the Christian communities across the Middle East which will be held in Europe over the coming eighteen months. Details will be announced in due course.
Among those attending the audience were His Grace Archbishop Isidore Battikha, Patriarcal Vicar of the Greek Catholic Patriarchate, Don Juan Pedro Travers de Gandt, a longstanding Constantinian Knight based in Damascus at the Patriarchate, and Miss Melanie Guerra from the British & Irish Chancery.
