Rome, August 2016. Following the devastating earthquake that hit central Italy on the night of 24 August 2016, the Grand Master, HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, has sent a message of solidarity to the Italian President of the Council of Ministers, HE Dr Matteo Renzi, on behalf of the Royal family and the Sacred Military Constantinian Order.
“The tragic events that took place in central Italy following the earthquake of 24 August and its terrible consequences, have profoundly moved my family and me as we think of the numerous victims, the mourning families, the severe situation of the survivors and of the Italian nation as a whole.
“I wish to express my deepest condolences to those affected by the grief and my most heartfelt sentiments of solidarity.
“In these circumstances, I also feel the duty to take action and offer humanitarian assistance to the communities affected by the tragedy, by launching a fund raising initiative through the members of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George. His Eminence Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino, our Grand Prior, in unison with the message of the Holy Father Pope Francis, joins me spiritually and by actively supporting this initiative, at this time of humanitarian emergency.”
In light of these events, the Grand Master has launched a fundraising initiative to assist the communities affected by the earthquake and has kindly invited all knights and dames to support this initiative by sending their donations to the following bank account:
