Dr David O’Connell, KM, KMCO,
London. November 2019. The Delegation of Great Britain and Ireland of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George notes with sadness the passing on 9 October 2019, aged 64, of Dr David O’Connell.
David was a supporter of the Constantinian Order and was a regular attendee at events and masses of the Delegation in London. He was appointed a Knight of Merit of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George by decree of HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Castro on 14 September 2011.
Dr O’Connell qualified in medicine at University College Cork in 1978. Subsequently he obtained a diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a certificate in family planning and membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners. He joined the practice of the late Sir Noel Moynihan and had been in continuous practice as a private GP in London until his passing.
He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, the Royal Society of Arts, the Royal Society of Health and the Royal Institute of Public Health.
He was a livery man of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and a Freeman of the City of London. He was appointed in 1993 as a Knight of Magistral Grace of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta within the Irish Association and was awarded by the Order of Malta as a Grand Officer of the Order pro Merito Melitensi in 2012.
He will be greatly missed.
