Dublin, July 2015. The Chancery is pleased to announce the appointment of HE Mr John Bruton as Vice-Delegate for Ireland of the Sacred
Military Constantinian Order of St George within the Delegation of Great Britain and Ireland.

Mr John Bruton was first invested into the Constantinian Order in 2011 as a Knight Grand Cross with Gold Star and will serve in the Vice-Delegate’s post for the period 2015-2018. He succeeds Professor Richard Conroy who served as Vice-Delegate for Ireland for two terms between 2009-2015.

Mr Bruton served as Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland from 1994 to 1997 and has held a number of prominent positions within the Irish Government, including Minister for Finance and Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism. He also served as the Ambassador of the European Union to the United States of America from 2004–2009.

The Delegate Anthony Bailey said, “I would like to welcome John Bruton as the Order’s new Vice-Delegate for Ireland. I have no doubt that he will bring great distinction to this post and further promoting the charitable and religious engagement of our members across the island of Ireland.

“I would also like to thank outgoing Vice-Delegate Richard Conroy for his longstanding support to the Order’s Delegation in Great Britain and Ireland. Professor Conroy has played an important role in overseeing the development of our delegation across Ireland.”

Professor Conroy will continue to serve the delegation as a Member of the Council for the period of 2015-2018.
