January 2013. The Chancery regrets to announce the death in January of Mr Anthony (Tony) Cavendish, KCFO, a Knight Commander of the Royal Order of Francis I within the Delegation of Great Britain and Ireland. Mr Cavendish was first invested into the Order in 2001.
Educated in Switzerland and at the School of Oriental & African Studies in London, Mr Cavendish was nominated for the Pulitzer prize for his coverage of the Hungarian revolution. He served for many years in British Intelligence (MI6) and was a Freeman of the City of London. The obituary published in the Guardian on 23 January 2013 can be read here.
