London, November 2015. At the invitation of the His Grace Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, His All Holiness The Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I visited the United Kingdom. The Ecumenical Patriarch is the leader of over 300 million Orthodox believers.
On 2 November 2015, the Delegate Anthony Bailey attended a dinner hosted by Delegation member His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London W1. HSH Princess Marie-Therese von Hohenberg, Mrs Bailey, HE Archbishop Antonio Mennini, Apostolic Nuncio to the Court of St James’s and HE Archbishop Athanasius Toma Dawod, Patriarchal Vicar of the Syrian Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom were also present.
On 4 December 2015, in his capacity of Governor of St Mary’s University, Anthony attended a lecture titled “Religion in Dialogue: The Importance and Imperative of Dialogue in our World” by His All Holiness followed by lunch at St Mary’s University hosted by Vice Chancellor Francis Campbell. His Holiness also received the first St Mary’s Pope Benedict XVI Medal from the University.
