St John’s, August 2016. In a response to an article published in the online edition of Antigua’s Daily Observer on 18 August 2016 under the heading ‘Sir Anthony’s Grenada knighthood to be revoked,’ the following statement has been issued by the Delegation for the Caribbean of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George:
“The Constantinian Order is proud of its longstanding support of countless goodwill projects and inter-faith initiatives across the world, including in the Caribbean. The Order’s sole focus has been to highlight the needs of the Church and wider society in developing countries and to give much needed moral and financial support to those in need.
“The Constantinian Order is proud of the charitable projects it is supporting in Grenada, and know these are valued and appreciated and they will continue. We note media reports of the Grenadian Government’s intention to revoke the awards to the Order’s delegation members, granted in 2015 due to a misunderstanding caused by their interpretation of the National Honours and Awards Act. This is solely a matter for the Grenadian Government and has no bearing on the individuals concerned.”
