Lazio / Sarajevo, December 2012. Knights and Dames and other volunteers of the Constantinian Order’s Vice Delegation in Lazio, Italy, have just concluded a humanitarian mission to numerous Catholic institutions in Bosnia including in the capital city of Sarajevo and Livno, a town in the West of the country.
The aid mission set off by road to the Italian Port on Ancona from which it sailed to the Croatian port of Split. Later by road it crossed the border into Bosnia in time for Christmas.
Their first stop was in Livno December 15 where the convoy visited the House of Spirituality run by the Order of Sisters of the Servants of the Infant Jesus who were anticipating large amount of food and hygiene products as well as medical supplies.
On 16 December the convoy travelled to the municipal orphanage in Sarajevo. Over 30 tons of food, detergents, toys and other basis necessities were donated to the Casa Egypt orphanage also managed by the Order of Sisters of the Servants of the Infant Jesus. This included about 250 toys, 11 tons of food (pasta, flour, pulses, rice, biscuits, jam, chocolate, tomatoes) 11 tons of detergents (300 liters laundry detergent, cleaners and sanitisers for swimming and kitchens, washing floors, shower gel, toothbrushes, toothpaste, 1000 diapers, detergents for babies, 1000 diapers for disabled people and urgently needed medicines.
As you know the humanitarian activities in territories torn by wars and natural disasters is one of the major commitments of our delegation that was also very busy in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria and Benin.
