London, 28 April 2013. The Grand Prior of the Constantinian Order, His Eminence Renato Raffaele, Cardinal Martino, visited Her Majesty’s Prison Pentonville in London.
Cardinal Martino, who is President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace prayed at the prison’s chapel, and toured the prison meeting both prison staff and offenders.
His Eminence was accompanied on this trip by The Rev Fr Carmelo Di Giovanni, Parish Priest of St Peter’s Italian Church in London and longstanding Catholic prison chaplain. The Order’s Delegate in Britain, Anthony Bailey also attended.
The Constantinian Order has a longstanding commitment to the welfare of prisoners and has over the years supported several chaplaincy programmes aimed at improving the spiritual needs of inmates.
