The British and Irish Delegation in conjunction with the Delegation for the Caribbean of the Constantinian Order will host an Autumn Delegation dinner on Monday 9 November 2015 at the historic Armourers’ Hall, 81 Coleman Street, London EC2R 5BJ at 6.30-10.30pm. The event will be hosted by the Delegate HE Mr Anthony Bailey, OBE and knights, dames, family and friends are invited to attend.
The Guest of Honour will be Her Excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade, GCMG, OBE, Governor General of Grenada, and the dinner will celebrate the launch of the series of significant charitable projects by the Constantinian Order in Grenada.
The Guest Speaker will be the Rt Hon Lord Patten of Barnes, CH. Lord Patten has held several important posts including European Commissioner for External Affairs, Governor of Hong Kong, Chairman of the BBC Trust and his current role as Chancellor of the University of Oxford. Lord Patten continues to play a prominent role in Vatican and Catholic affairs at home and abroad and was instrumental in the successful Papal Visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the UK in 2010. He was decreed into the Constantinian Order in 2014.
The visit to London of Dame Cecile will also take place a few days after her planned historic visit to Pope Francis in Vatican City – the first ever Official Visit made by a Governor General of Grenada to Vatican City State.
Grenada gained its independence from the United Kingdom in 1974 and is a country where Roman Catholics make up the largest faith community in the island nation. It is a member of the Commonwealth of nations and is one of remaining sixteen Commonwealth Realms which acknowledge HM Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State. Her Excellency assumed the vice-regal office in 2013.
The dress code will be black tie or national dress with decorations. Places will be issued on a first come first served basis and please note that the Hall is limited to 90 places.
