St Patrick s Day

The Delegation for Great Britain and Ireland of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George extends its warmest wishes to all Knights and Dames on the occasion of St Patrick’s Day.

This celebration dates back to 1631, when the Church formally established a Feast Day in honour of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland, who is believed to have died in the fifth century. Born a Roman citizen at a time when Britain formed part of the Roman Empire, he was later taken to Ireland as a slave. In time, he embraced his religious vocation and returned as a priest, dedicating his life to the Christian mission in Ireland.

On this solemn and historic feast, the Delegation joins in commemorating the enduring spiritual legacy of Saint Patrick and the profound significance of his witness and service.
