Paris, 28 March 2016. Her Excellency Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius, attended a ceremony on 28 March 2016, in Paris, where the Head of State was invested as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis by the Grand Master, HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Head of the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies.
Her Excellency Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim was formally notified of her admission into the Royal Order of Francis I during a meeting held between the President and the Grand Master which was held at her official residence in Port Louis, Mauritius on 8 January 2016.
The Mauritian Head of State, besides her political life, is also an important scientist, who has led innovations in the fields of medicine and nutrition.
