Pristina, 23 May 2014. Her Excellency Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, President of the Republic of Kosovo, at a ceremony held today at the Office of the President, bestowed the following decorations to the Constantinian Order delegation:
– His Eminence Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino, Grand Prior of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George was presented with the Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal.
– Cardinal Martino also received the Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal on behalf of the Grand Master HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro.
The Mother Teresa Humanitarian Medal, one of the highest national honours of Kosovo, was awarded in high recognition in administering charitable, humanitarian and spiritual activities in Kosovo.
Attending the ceremony were Mr Petrit Selimi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, HE Mr Anthony Bailey, Delegate for Great Britain and Ireland & Grand Magistral Delegate for Inter-Religious Relations of the Constantinian Order and Mr Alberto Janelli, Private Secretary to HRH The Duke of Castro.
The Constantinian Order has a long association with Kosovo. Between 2003-2009 it funded a number of charitable interfaith projects through the Apostolic Nunciature in Belgrade. More recently a delegation of Constantinian knights headed by Marquis Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Delegate of Naples, travelled to Kosovo last week to bring humanitarian aid to various institutes in Kosovo, Pristina, Gnjlane and Klina.
Among the other recipients were HE Mr Anthony Bailey, Cyril Woods of Slane and Mr Nadhmi Auchi.
